Some of servers from Hewlett-Packard feature Management Processor(MP), which is in fact a standard-looking PCI bus card. The MP has a DB25 connector on the backplate, however the pinout is not the same as standard RS-232C port found on Sun workstations or PC-9801's. The port connects to a special breakout cable whose part number is A6144-63001. The breakout cable in turn connects to the standard RS-232C cables from serial console, UPS, and modem.
When I got my HP Integrity rx5670(4*Itanium2 1.0GHz, 16GB Memory), I did not get the cable with the server. So I ended up connecting to the MP using telnet. Later I got the cable to find using serial console a lot easier.
on the cable. The cable has four connectors, one of which connects to the computer and the other three connector to the peripherals. Some pins are missing from the connector, which are designated by 'X'.
